Turn on your TI-83. Flip up the top of the CBR so you can see the buttons labeled 82/83, 85/86, and 92.

On your TI-83, do Link (press the 2nd and XTØn keys). Use the arrow keys to move across to Receive. Then press Enter to begin receiving the program from the CBR.

On the CBR, press the 82/83 button. This will send the CBR program to your TI-83.

When your TI-83 is done receiving the program, do Quit (press 2nd and Mode).

Using the CBR program

Connect your TI-83 to the CBR. Turn on your TI-83. Press Prgm. Choose Ranger from the listed programs. Press Enter. This will show “prgmRANGER” on the home screen of your TI-83. Press Enter again.

The program will show a start up screen. Press Enter to continue.

From the main menu, choose option 3, applications. From the units menu, choose option 2, feet. From the applications menu, choose option 1, distance match.

The program will give you some directions. Read them, then press Enter. You will be given a graph of distance over time. Your goal is to match this graph by moving forward or backwards while pointing the CBR at a wall.

Look carefully at this graph. Think about what you will need to do to match the graph. When you are ready, press Enter to begin. Make a copy of the original graph and the result of your attempt to match that graph.

Each member of your group should attempt to match at least three different graphs. Sketch each graph and your attempt to match it. Summarize how you would match different aspects of a graph. What should you do when the graph is going up? What should you do when the graph is going down? What should you do when the graph remains horizontal?
